Turning Point Family Service’s Intensive In-Home (IIH) program is designed to examine the current stresses within a family to help determine the underlying problems and work to increase communication and problem solving skills. The goal of this program is to strengthen the family unit and prevent future situations from becoming overwhelming and unmanageable.
The team helps the family through difficult situations by working both with individual members and as a family unit. The goal is to keep the family together by teaching home-based behavioral techniques. The service starts off very intensive and decreases over time as the family learns and uses coping skills. The team keeps the family engaged in the recovery process by identifying strengths to help stabilize the family unit as well as possible problems that could add stress to the family and prevent them.
Trauma-Focused IIH
This specialized program uses Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as an evidenced based treatment model designed to treat posttraumatic stress and related emotional and behavioral problems in children and adolescents. The team is trained to address a wide variety of psychological trauma associated such as child sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, domestic violence, traumatic loss, and even the multiple psychological traumas experienced by children prior to permanent placement. The services are delivered in various settings based on the need, including home, school and the community.
